First we will talk about your vision of the effects. We will discuss what must to be done on set and in post in order to get the best possible result.
That includes taking HDRI’s or using practical lights for emissive objects etc.
Next we consult on how to approach these effects and how to blend them with the real elements.
To have a proper and efficient workflow I will also create a VFX pipeline fitting the project.
If required it is also possible to do previsualization, Locationscouts, RnD etc.
When a specific effect is needed in many shots or the effect needs further research to achieve the best quality there is a possibility to enter a RnD (research and development) phase. That can cut costs when an effect is needed in multiple shots, because I’m able to create a tool and speed up the post production process significantly. Furthermore we’re able to nail down the effect and art direct it to your liking.
While production takes place I will be on set to provide the best conditions to create breathtaking VFX in postproduction. That includes taking HDRI’s, measurements of the set, documentation of camera metadata. I will also take videos/pictures on set for reference, which can be delivered to you in case there is need for reference footage, BTS or anything else.
After production is wrapped and the first cut is done I can start working on the FX/VFX of the shot. I work with the software Houdini, which was developed by Sidefx. The node based and non destructive workflow of Houdini allows for much flexibility and fast revisions.
After I created the first versions of the effect I will send you a viewport render so you can give feedback regarding motion, behaviour etc.
When the viewport render is approved I will prepare everything for rendering. Once the shot is rendered out you get the rendered file for more feedback until I deliver it to compositing.
